Soundtrack:
Music is such a large part of my life. To me, music can convey every emotion from utter happiness, to severe depression. The following songs make up the soundtrack to my life.

Current Track(s)
Date : 2003-04-25
Artist : Yasanori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger OST)
Title : A Premonition
Reason : Simple. Effective. Nostalgic. The intro to Chrono Trigger. I need to say no more.

Past Tracks
Date : 2003-04-11
Artist : Franky J
Title : Don't Wanna Try
Reason : They played this on Z104's `diss or dat` maybe 5 weeks ago. I enoyed it muchly but could never find it anywhere. Recently it feel into my lap, and I still enjoy it muchly.

Date : 2003-03-27
Artist : Linkin Park
Title : Breaking the Habit
Reason : If this isn't Linkin Park's next single (or the one after that), then I don't know my music. This song is the hottest track on their new CD (Meteora). The rest of the album, all 30 minutes of it, is worth checking out too. This song is so good, I think I could DDR to it.
Date : 2003-03-27
Artist : The All-American Rejects
Title : Swing, Swing
Reason : I heard this on 96x a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time I heard it, but never knew who sung it or what it was called. Drewmedia came through for me and hooked it up and now I am free to hear it's splendidness whenever I like.

... "My heart crushed by a former love".

Date : 2003-03-11
Artist : Unknown (from DDR 6th Mix)
Title : Exotic Ethnic
Reason : If you've played and enjoyed any DDR game, you can likely appreciate this. It's your run of the mill techno song with a little Indian flavor to it (nah, not Cherokee, but India, kthx). The steps (in light mode) for this track are about the best you can find -- they really get you into it and make you feel like you're in a tribal dance.

Date : 2003-03-11
Artist : Jaheim
Title : Fabulous
Reason : Take a great, relaxed beat -- add some great, relaxed vocals to it and you get an excellent, chilled song. If that wasn't good enough, the outro for the song is the icing on the cake.

I heard this (and the next) track on the way home from New Jersey. You can find some good shit on the radio in 6 hours -- these aren't amazing tracks by any means, but they're not bad at all.

Date : 2003-03-11
Artist : Amanda Perez
Title : Angel
Reason : I sent this to my sister and she asked why she kept talking about God. I think that turned her off, but that's not what the song's about. It's about heartache and loss. The rythym is much better than the previous song, but still ends up equal overall.

Date : 2003-01-30
Artist : Nas
Title : I Can
Reason : I'm not sure where the appeal comes from, but the beat and hook are both excellent. I've been waiting for a decent Nas song for some time now -- this might be it.

Date : 2002-12-09
Artist : Utada Hikaru, Russell McNamara
Title : PLANIT-b (Remix / Short Edit)
Reason : An excellent song, also featured on an excellent video game (Kingdom Hearts).

Date : 2002-12-07
Artist : Smilez and Southstar
Title : Tell Me
Reason : Beats, hooks, verses, this song has it all. S'my favorite.

Date : 2002-11-25
Artist : Kelly Rowland
Title : Stole (Urban Edit)
Reason : Boy do I hate Destiny's Child, but I suppose Kelly turned out OK... or maybe it's just her producer that's doin it right. This song starts out weak, but ends up strong. The hook is excellent.

Date : 2002-11-12
Artist : Jay-Z feat. Lenny Kravitz
Title : Guns and Roses
Reason : Excellent beat, decent lyrics (I was never a big fan of Jay-Z), and a nice guitar riff here and there. I first saw this on SNL last week. SNL performances are usually pretty hot, since they're all mostly real instruments, so they sound pretty solid. That's all.

Date : 2002-11-07
Artist : George Winston
Title : Colors/Dance
Reason : Where the hell have I been for two months? Uninspired I guess.

It's funny how my parents' musical tastes are rubbing off on me now. I'm not sure if it's a genetical thing or if I've been brainwashed somehow by hearing these songs as I grew up. This one is a nice little piano joint that I just plain enjoy. I need to get some of Winston's CDs come Thanksgiving so I can dig on more tracks.

Date : 2002-09-18
Artist : Monica
Title : Breaks My Heart
Reason : I'm really not sure why I like this as much as I do. I think it's the beat -- shit is just chill, and it breaks my heart, you know?.

Date : 2002-09-08
Artist : Cam'ron
Title : Hey Ma
Reason : Just three words -- feel good song.

Date : 2002-08-26
Artist : Angie Martinez
Title : If I Could Go
Reason : Nothing amazing, just a decent track. The hook is great, and it's why I like the song, the rest of it is just good. It reminds me much of Blu Cantrell's Hit Em Up Style, but a little better. Just a novelty track, you know?

Date : 2002-06-27
Artist : Pinback
Title : Seville || XIY
Reason : Where Eminem leaves off lyrically, Pinback picks up musically. I hadn't heard Pinback until Nick was playing a CD of theirs when we were in Seattle. I bothered him for weeks to try to get him to rip me some CDs. Nick's a chump though, and Wells came through for me. I decided to put up two tracks since one can't do Pinback the justice they deserve. I can't wait for more Pinback releases.

Date : 2002-05-15
Artist : Eminem
Title : Hailie's Song
Reason : Eminem -- my words can't do Eminem the justice he deserves. Brilliance, genius, and unbelievable are a few that come to mind. I could spend all day quoting lyrics off various Eminem tracks that I find to be somewhat extraordinaire. This track is off his new CD. It's not a lyrically amazing song by any means, but musically it is superb.

I act like shit don't phase me --
inside it drives me crazy.
My insecurities could eat me alive.
But then I see my baby --
And suddenly I'm not crazy.
It all makes sense when I look into her eyes.

Date : 2002-04-24
Artist : Freedy Johnston
Title : Bad Reputation
Reason : Every once in awhile, I'll here a few notes or the whole chorus to a song that I'd since forgotten. This happened last night as I watched Kingpin. I'm not even sure who Freedy Johnson is or where I first heard this song, but man do I love it.

Date : 2002-04-11
Artist : Carpenters
Title : Close to You
Reason : Sometimes I'll find myself being able to step outside of my body where I'll be able to actually take in the whole situation at hand. A great realization typically comes when I embrace this type of situation. This particular realization was that of happiness. Sharon had returned from a week's vacation last Sunday (04/07/02) and we were having hamburgers that I'd cooked on the grill. The weather was spectacular and the recent daylight savings time change allowed for later day light (something I long for). I had the Carpenters on the radio as we ate and had a great conversation. Every aspect of a perfect dinner fell into place.

I'm not sure why I love the Carpenters, but I do. I can thank my parents most likely for playing them as I grew up -- I also can thank them for the Greatest Hits CD I have. :)

Date : 2002-04-01
Artist : Nobuo Uematsu
Title : Underneath the Rotting Pizza (FFVII OST)
Reason : I've always enjoyed music from Nobuo Uematsu, the infamous composer behind most of the Final Fantasy games. Since I started playing Final Fantasy VII this week I decided to post a track from the game. This was the first track that came up in the game that really struck me.

Date : 2002-03-28
Artist : Moby
Title : 007 Remix
Reason : A great remix of an already great song. This is what played as Luke and I raced to the Lynnhaven exit after work -- just like old times.

Date : 2002-03-21
Artist : Vanessa Carlton
Title : A Thousand Miles
Reason : So I'm big on pop songs, but this is such a good one. Thanks to Sharon, I could listen to it over and over and never get bored of it.
